Air Products secures oxygen and nitrogen supply contract in China

US-based industrial gases firm Air Products has signed a second long-term oxygen and nitrogen supply contract with an unnamed global materials supplier in Guangdong, a coastal province of south-east China.

The new deal will further strengthen Air Products’ position in Guangdong, as well as the relationship with the customer.

As part of the deal, the company will build two sets of cryogenic air separation plants in Guangdong for production of both gaseous oxygen and nitrogen.

Air Products' existing plant started-up earlier this year and was its first of its kind built in China.

"The new investment and capacity expansion will give Air Products an even stronger position to supply the strategic high-tech materials industry in the important Pearl River Delta region."

The new plants are expected to be operational from next year and together with the existing plant, the company intends to significantly increase gas supply capacity for the customer.

Air Products Industrial Gases China president Saw Choon Seong said: "In line with China’s 13th Five-Year Plan and Made in China 2025 strategy, the new investment and capacity expansion will give Air Products an even stronger position to supply the strategic high-tech materials industry in the important Pearl River Delta region."

In Guangdong, Air Products operates a strong and reliable supply network across the Pearl River Delta to support the growing demand from more than 30 industries.

Air Products' core industrial gases business offers atmospheric and process gases and related equipment to manufacturing markets, including refining and petrochemical, metals, electronics, and food and beverage.
