Methanex to Restart Methanol Plant in Canada

Methanex Corporation is planning to restart its methanol plant in Alberta, Canada, with a capital infusion of $40m.

The 470,000t-a-year plant has been idle since 2001.

Methanex said it had started to purchasing natural gas for the plant, which consumes about 50,000 million mmbtu of natural gas per day.

The company said that it expects to capitalise on lower natural gas prices in North America.
