Germany's Chemical Output to Rise

The chemical industry in Germany has reported a 5.2% sales rise in the second quarter over the first quarter, an increase of 22.7% to €41.6bn compared with the corresponding quarter last year.

Revenue in the chemical industry also rose to $53.23bn in the April-June quarter and the full year revenue is expected to increase by 18%, according to VCI, the chemical industry association of Germany.

German chemicals production increased by 1.5% in the quarter compared to the first quarter and by 14.2% compared to a year ago period.

According to VCI, the country's chemicals production is expected to rise by 11% in 2010 compared to last year.

Chemicals prices are also forecast to increase by 2.5% this year.
