The Beijing Huamei Polymer Company, a joint venture between Du Pont and China Petroleum & Chemical (Sinopec) has started the production of ethylene vinyl acetate at its Beijing plant.
The plant will have an annual capacity to produce about 132 million pounds of ethylene vinyl acetate.
Sinopec holds a 55% stake, with the remaining stake owned by DuPont in a joint venture started dating back to 2007.
The Beijing plant was expected to begin operations in 2008 but has been delayed due to unsafe construction, according plasticnews.com.
