Iran is planning to construct two petrochemical plants in its southern region in collaboration with an unnamed Turkish company.
According to reports, National Iranian Petrochemical Company has negotiated with a Turkish company to build a methanol unit in Asalouyeh with an annual capacity of 1.65 million tonnes.
The proposal also includes the construction of a polyethylene plant in Miyandoab that could produce 539,000t of petrochemical products annually.
Iran aims to commission 47 petrochemical projects by 2015, adding a total 43 million tonnes in annual capacity, according to bloomberg.com.
