Dorf Ketal Chemicals has acquired Johnson Matthey's UK-based Vertec business for INR2bn ($42m).
Under the agreement, Dorf Ketal acquires Vertec's trademarks, intellectual property and product know-how.
Vertec manufactures specialist organic titanates which are used in inks, paints and polymers.
The company had made losses for several years, according to Business Standard. It reported revenues of around $20m in 2009.
