Gevo to Acquire Ethanol Plant from Agri-Energy

Gevo has signed an agreement to acquire an ethanol production facility from Agri-Energy in south-west Minnesota, US.

The Colorado-based biobutanol technology developer will retrofit the facility with mechanical systems to convert it into a isobutanol production unit with a capacity of 18 million gallons a year.

Gevo expects to start isobutanol production in the first quarter of 2012. It is expected that ethanol production will continue through much of the retrofit process.

The plant opened in 1998 and is capable of producing around 21 million gallons of corn-based ethanol a year.
