Abu Dhabi Plans Petrochemical Plants

Abu Dhabi is planning to build petrochemical plants near an existing oil refinery at the Ruwais industrial area.

Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company will shift its planned sites to Ruwais to facilitate direct access to the refinery by-products that will feed its crackers, Abu Dhabi Ports Company said.

Petrochemical developer Chemaweyaat said the company is also considering shifting its proposed plants at Port Khalifa to the Tacaamol facility near the Ruwais complex.

Tacaamol will use liquid petroleum gas and naphtha to run the plants, which are expected to start in 2015, according to Arabian Business News.
