Unipetrol has implemented AspenTech's advanced process control (APC) system at its ethylene production plant in Litvinov, Czech Republic, to make energy savings of €2m ($2.59m) a year.
The plant is running at 70-80% capacity and has shifted its focus to energy savings and management.
The APC system allows Unipetrol to check the plant’s performance and adjust the set points.
Unipetrol has deployed 18 of the controllers, all of which remain online more than 95% of the time, according to theengineer.co.uk.
