SNC-Lavalin Wins Contract from JIFCO


SNC-Lavalin has been granted a contract to build a grassroots sulphuric and phosphoric acid complex together with utilities and a power plant in Eshidya, Jordan, by JIFCO.

The project value is estimated to be about C$630m ($625m).

Under the contract, SNC-Lavalin will provide overall project management, detailed design, proprietary equipment items and construction management services for the facilities.

After completion, the complex is expected to produce 500,000t per annum (tpa) of phosphoric acid and 4,500tpa of sulphuric acid.

The project work will begin immediately and is expected to start its operations before the end of 2012.

JIFCO is a joint venture between Jordanian Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO).
