Sasol to Construct New Ethylene Purification Unit

South Africa-based Sasol Limited will construct a R1.9bn ($256m) ethylene purification unit at its Sasol Polymers plant in Sasolburg, South Africa, following board approval.

After completion, the unit is expected to increase ethylene production by approximately 48,000t a year.

The plant is expected to be completed in the second half of 2013 and will reach full capacity by 2015.

The ethylene produced will be used in the manufacturing of polyethylene and is expected to help the plastics conversion industry in South Africa, the company said.
