Woodland Biofuels to Construct Cellulosic Ethanol Demo Plant in Ontario

Canada-based Woodland Biofuels said it will start the construction of a cellulosic ethanol demonstration plant in the next two months using its patented gasification technology.

The plant will be located at the Bioindustrial Innovation Centre, in the University of Western Ontario's Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.

The $4m investment was announced by Ontario minister Sophia Aggelonitis through the province's innovation demonstration funds.

After completion, the demonstration plant will produce ethanol from renewable waste, with groundbreaking efficiency, and will have an annual capacity of 750,000l of ethanol.

The plant is expected to be completed by 2011, according to ethanolproducer.com.
