Egypt's Petrochemicals Holding has won a contract to build a $2bn petrochemicals complex at Alexandria, on Egypt's northern Mediterranean coast.
The plant will convert ethane to ethylene, which will be used to produce the basic plastic polyethylene.
After completion the complex is expected to produce between 750,000 and 1 million tonnes per annum of ethylene, according to news.egypt.com.
