Chemetall New Zealand has acquired Auckland-based Tergo Industries to expand its presence in the country.
Tergo, which started in 1946 as part of the Auckland Gas Company, uses by-products of coal gas to manufacture a variety of chemical products.
Operating from its Avondale site since 1997, Tergo has warehouses in Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin with resellers in Hawke's Bay, Nelson, Taranaki and Rotorua.
Tergo's Avondale site employs 16 members and the five Chemetall New Zealand staff will move from their base in Penrose to the site.
Consideration for the deal was not disclosed, according to The National Business Review.
Chemetall New Zealand is the subsidiary of Chemetall GmbH.
