Mitsui Chemicals to Resume Naphtha Cracker

12 March 2010

Japan's Mitsui Chemicals will restart its 553,000tpa naphtha cracker in Chiba, near Tokyo in late March after repair work.

The cracker was originally shut on 28 February due to a problem and failed to restart earlier this month.

The company suffered a loss of about ¥3bn ($33m) due to shutdown of the cracker, according to Reuters.

Mitsui Chemicals is the producer of petrochemicals, polymers, industrial chemicals, fine chemicals and engineering materials.
