Eastman's Texas Polymer Plant Stays Offline

12 March 2010

The Eastman Chemical plant in Texas is unlikely to come back online until the end of March after an equipment failure forced it to close in late February.

The equipment broke during restart operations and was connected to one of the two operating cracking units at the site, and is now breaking production of certain products and intermediates.

The Texas facility produces more than 40 chemical and polymer products using approximately 55,000bpd of feedstock – ethane and propane – that is shipped in via seven pipelines, shipping between 6 and 10 million lb/day of chemical products.
