Mitsubishi and Asahi Kasei Delay Plant Merger

Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings and Asahi Kasei said stalled negotiations will delay the merger of their respective ethylene plants in Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

The delay is expected to last about six months, japantoday.com reports.

Mitsubishi Chemical and Asahi Kasei announced a plan to merge the operations of two plants in the Mizushima district in Kurashiki and establish a joint company in April to operate the integrated facilities.

The two plants are capable of producing 890,000t of ethylene per year, the news service said.
