Samsung Engineering to Build Fertiliser Plant in UAE
FERTIL has awarded a $1.2bn contract to South Korean firm Samsung Engineering to build a fertiliser plant in Ruwais, UAE.
The FERTIL-2 plant, expected to start production in January 2013, will produce 2,000mtpd of ammonia and 3,500mtpd of urea.
According to the contract, Samsung will execute the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning project on a lump-sum turnkey basis.
Through the FERTIL-2 project, Samsung has reconfirmed its partnership with Uhde, Germany, the most advanced ammonia licensor in the world.
FERTIL is a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.
The company's Maaden Ammonia project in Saudi Arabia is scheduled to be complete in December 2010.
