BASF and Sinopec to Start China Plant Expansion

BASF and Sinopec will begin the expansion of their $1.4bn petrochemical venture in eastern China to meet increasing demand, company officials said, according to Bloomberg.

The expansion will increase the capacity of the ethylene plant from 600,000 metric t/y to 740,000 metric t/y, according to BASF.

Ethylene is used as the raw material for plastics and synthetic fibres.
