Evonik plans for new biodiesel plant in Argentina
Germany-based Evonik Industries is set to build a new plant for manufacturing catalysts for biodiesel production in Argentina.
The plant will have a capacity of 60,000t/year and is expected to be operational by the end of 2012.
It will use ready-to-use alcoholates as catalysts for the production of biodiesel from renewable resources to serve in Argentina and Brazil.
Jan Van den Bergh, head of Evonik's advanced intermediates business unit, said that construction would be completed without undue delay to ensure that the company's South American customers will soon have access to high-quality, locally produced catalysts.
Evonik also operates a catalyst manufacturing facility at its German Niederkassel-Lülsdorf site near Cologne.
