Sasol to build gas-to-liquids facility in the US

South African energy and chemicals group Sasol has selected the southwestern region of the State of Louisiana as the site for a planned gas-to-liquids facility in the US.

Construction is expected to start in 2013, with the completion scheduled for 2018.

Sasol converts gas and coal into liquid fuels, fuel components and chemicals through the company's proprietary Fischer-Tropsch processes.

Gas-to-liquids fuel is used in vehicles and fuel delivery infrastructure without modifications.

The company also plans to build the first ethylene tetramerisation unit at Lake Charles in Louisiana.
