CaliSolar to construct polysilicon plant in Mississippi

California-based CaliSolar is set to construct a polysilicon manufacturing plant in Mississippi, US, at an estimated cost of $600m.

The plant will produce about 16,000t of polysilicon a year for use in solar cells.

SMS Siemag, a Germany-based technology provider, will supply the majority of the equipment to be installed at the facility.

Texas-based Zachry Holdings will build the facility along with several local Mississippi construction firms.
