Lanxess to increase glass fibre capacity in Belgium


Speciality chemicals company Lanxess is investing €15m in its glass fibre plant in Antwerp, Belgium.

The expansion involves the replacement of two glass furnaces and will see capacity rise by 10%.

Glass fibres are needed for the production of high-tech plastics, global demand for which are expected to increase by roughly 7% a year through to 2020, the company said.

The company's recent investments for high-tech plastics amounts to €90m, including the glass fibres expansion.
