Honeywell to Invest in Louisiana Facility
US-based Honeywell is to invest $33m in its manufacturing facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to produce HFO-1234ze, a material used in insulation and aerosols.
The facility is scheduled to begin production in late 2013.
Honeywell Fluorine Products vice-president and general manger Terrence Hahn said the investment will allow the company to meet the global customer demand for low global warming potential products.
US Environmental Protection Agency has accepted HFO-1234ze for use and sale in foam and aerosols. It is currently used in Europe and Japan.
