Lanxess to Build an Neodymium Polybutadiene Plant in Singapore
Germany-based chemical company Lanxess is planning to invest 200m in Singapore to build the world's largest manufacturing plant for neodymium polybutadiene, a specialised rubber.
The plant will be located at Jurong Island Chemical Park, next to its 400m butyl rubber plant, which is currently under construction and will come on stream in Q1 2013.
The plant and will have a capacity to produce 140,000 tonnes of neodymium polybutadiene a year and is expected to start in the first half of 2015, Lanxess said.
Neodymium polybutadiene is also used in the manufacture of high-impact polystyrene, tires, golf balls, running shoes and conveyor belts.
