Lanxess to Build an Neodymium Polybutadiene Plant in Singapore

Germany-based chemical company Lanxess is planning to invest €200m in Singapore to build the world's largest manufacturing plant for neodymium polybutadiene, a specialised rubber.

The plant will be located at Jurong Island Chemical Park, next to its €400m butyl rubber plant, which is currently under construction and will come on stream in Q1 2013.

The plant and will have a capacity to produce 140,000 tonnes of neodymium polybutadiene a year and is expected to start in the first half of 2015, Lanxess said.

Neodymium polybutadiene is also used in the manufacture of high-impact polystyrene, tires, golf balls, running shoes and conveyor belts.
