Chang Chun Petrochemical Confirms Acetic Acid Plant Start-Up Plans

Taiwan-based Chang Chun Petrochemical has announced that it plans to start up its 450,000t / year acetic acid plant in Mailiao in the next two months.

The company had initially planned to start the plant in Q2 2011, according to platts.com.

Small amounts of methanol for test runs have already been bought, but the plant requires 238,500t of the chemical annually to run at full capacity.

The acetic acid plant will supply the vinyl acetate monomer plant of Chang Chun Petrochemical subsidiary Dairen Chemical, which requires 475,000t of the chemical as feedstock annually to operate at full capacity.
