DuPont to Expand Titanium Dioxide Capacity

DuPont has revealed a plan to expand its titanium dioxide capacity by about 350,000t.

The increase will see new production units built at the company's Altamira plant in Mexico, as well as additional investments to improve the productivity at its other titanium dioxide sites around the world.

The US-based chemical company is planning to invest around $500m in its Mexico plant.

The plant is scheduled for completion by year-end 2014 and will have a capacity to produce 200,000t of titanium dioxide per year.

Dow Chemical is also upgrading five of its titanium dioxide manufacturing plants, increasing capacity 150,000t a year.
