Technip Awarded Braskem-Idesa's Ethylene Project in Mexico


Braskem-Idesa, the joint venture between the Brazilian Braskem and Mexican Group Idesa, has chosen Technip as a technology provider for the development of its Ethylene XXI project in Mexico.

The ethylene cracker, based on ethane, will have a capacity to produce 1.05 million tons of ethylene per year.

The plant will be a part of the petrochemical complex to be built in Coatzacoalcos / Nanchital region in the Mexican state of Veracruz, which is estimated to be operational by the end of 2014.

The complex will also feature one low-density polyethylene plant and two high-density polyethylene plants.

Braskem-Idesa has also chosen Technip as contractor for the front-end engineering design of the cracker and high-density polyethylene plants.

The overall front-end engineering design activities are scheduled to be completed at the end of 2011.
