Indonesia's PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Kaltim) has awarded a $577m contract to Japan's Toyo Engineering to build a fertiliser plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
The natural gas-fed fertiliser plant will have a capacity to produce 2,700t / day of ammonia and 3,500t / day of urea.
The contract is for engineering, procurement, and construction services, according to the company.
Construction is estimated to start this summer and will last for 33 months.
Kaltim has four fertiliser plants in Indonesia with a combined capacity of 2.98 million tons of urea and 1.85 million tons of ammonia a year.
