Bayer to Build Isophorone Diisocyanate Plant in China
Bayer MaterialScience is planning to build a plant to produce isophorone diisocyanate, a coating raw material, at its integrated site in Shanghai, China.
Bayer is planning to invest 65m at the plant and it is expected to open in 2015.
The plant is part of the Germany-based chemical company’s 1bn expansion plan in China.
With this project, the total investment of Bayer MaterialScience in China has increased to more than 3bn.
Isophorone diisocyanate is used as a raw material primarily in high-grade polyurethane coatings for applications such as for automotive finishing.
