UOP to Provide Technology to Petrochemical Complex

UOP, a Honeywell company, has announced that its technology has been selected by Great Orient Chemical for a new petrochemical complex in China that will produce the primary ingredient for biodegradable household laundry detergents.

Great Orient Chemical estimates that the new complex will produce up to 100,000tpa of linear alkylbenzene (LAB).

Basic engineering for the plant which is underway will feature the UOP Pacol, UOP DeFine and UOP Detergent Alkylation processes and the complex is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2012.

Great Orient Chemical, a subsidiary of Singapore GOC, is a joint venture between Indonesian Salim Group and Korean ISU Chemicals focused on expanding detergents capacity in China.

US-based UOP is a supplier and licensor of process technology, catalysts, adsorbents, process plants and consulting services to the petroleum refining, petrochemical and gas processing industries.
