Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Company has started trial production of polycarbonate its petrochemicals complex in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia.
Once fully operational in 2013, the plant will have a capacity to produce 5.5 million tons of petrochemicals per year.
The production includes 260,000t/ year of polycarbonate and 140,000t/year of acetone.
Polycarbonate, a thermoplastic polymer, is used in a variety of applications including optical media, construction and housing supplies, electronics, medical equipment and automotive parts.
