Lanxess to Invest in China Chemical Plant

Lanxess is planning to invest €30m ($39.6m) in a leather chemical plant in Jiangsu province, China.

The plant will have an annual capacity of 50,000t and will produce Tanigan, Isoderm, Euderm and Levotan for various applications, including leather tanning, dyeing and finishing.

The Germany speciality chemical group plans to bring the plant on stream by the first half of 2013.

Lanxess is currently operating a leather chemical plant in Jiangsu province with an annual output of 30,000t.

Leather chemicals are used to optimise the properties of leather material such as its softness and water resistance, as well as the ability to conceal minor defects and reduce soiling.
