Qatar Chemical has opened its second petrochemical plant in Mesaieed industrial city, Qatar.
The Q-Chem II plant is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (51%) and Chevron Phillips Chemical (49%), which can produce 350,000t of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and 345,000t olefins annually.
The new plant and its predecessor are expected to reach full capacity in early 2011, according to gulftimes.com.
