Alexanderwerk - Roller Compaction, Granulation and Size Reduction Equipment

Alexanderwerk is an international supplier of roller compaction, granulation and size reduction equipment for the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries.

The company primarily focuses on roller compaction and its role in increasing the bulk density of products to provide better flow and handling properties. The complete product line includes equipment for roller compaction, size reduction, extrusion, moist granulation, and grating and shredding of a wide variety of solid, dry or moist materials.

CHEMICAL POWERPACTOR PRODUCTION SCALE COMPACTORS

Designed primarily for chemical applications, the new production scale compactors feature product throughputs from 100kg/hr up to 50t/hr. With high capacity throughput rates, all four sizes of PowerPactor production scale compactors provide significantly lower output costs.

A patented Combi-Vent hopper vacuum feed system ensures smooth feeding of lightweight materials, including silica, silicid acid and acetylene dust. Four synchronized independent drives provide optimal torque efficiency and constant roller alignment.

All units feature a 'clamshell' design that greatly facilitates operator access to all operating parts, makes the unit easier to clean and facilitates routine maintenance. An integrated flake breaker and granulator unit gives the operator total control of the production process.

The compact new design of these production scale compactors also requires much less floor space than competitive machines of similar capacities.

CHEMICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL ROLLER COMPACTOR SERIES

The Pharma Series of roller compactors includes smaller-sized units that can process as little as 10g and can be accurately scaled up to the larger units. Throughputs as high as 400kg/hr can also be easily and reliably achieved with these roller compactors. Systems of related designs are available with capacities of up to 70t/hr.

COMBI-VENT™ HOPPER FEED SYSTEM

All cantilever units include cGMP monoblock design, easily removable rollers and contact parts, and the ability to add the optional Combi-Vent™ hopper feed system. This horizontal feed screw arrangement provides a homogenous mix to the compaction rollers and less fines recirculation, thus ensuring uniform and consistent product quality.

An added benefit of the Combi-Vent™ hoper feed system is an unhindered venting of entrapped air from the compaction zone further enhancing the quality of the finished product.

Optional PAT technology, isolation systems and WIP capabilities are also available.

MODULAR PROCESSING SYSTEM

This multi-function machine provides the ultimate in versatility for processing a wide variety of products. Utilizing a variable speed drive unit as the core component, the MPS can accommodate up to five different processing modules to accomplish mixing, fine granulating, grating/shredding, moist granulating and extrusion.

COMPREHENSIVE CHEMICAL LABORATORY TEST FACILITIES

Alexanderwerk maintains a comprehensive test laboratory for conducting product and equipment trials.

Alexanderwerk has testing labs both at its headquarters at Remscheid, Germany, and its facility in Horsham, the USA. In addition to roller compaction, equipment includes size reduction systems, granulators and shredders, a pelletizer, a pneumatic conveying system and the company's modular processing system which incorporates mixing, size reduction, pelletizing and extrusion capabilities in a single unit.

Product testing and production trials are offered free for evaluation quantities and on a day rate basis for production scale quantities. Machine rentals, spare parts and comprehensive technical support are also offered.

WP200VN ROLLER COMPACTOR

A new roller compactor has been added to the range of equipment available for customer product trials.

The WP200VN roller compactor includes vacuum deaeration, water cooled vacuum rollers and the company’s patented combi-vent feed system. Capable of throughput as high as 400kg/hr, the unit is available for customer evaluation of roller compaction as part of their manufacturing process.

ADDITIONAL ROLLER COMPACTION SERVICES

Additional company services include IQ / OQ documentation and execution, feasibility studies, calibration programs, preventative maintenance programs, block-time usage rates and special spare-parts packages. Technical support is also always available for both electrical and mechanical issues that may arise.
