ICC The Compliance Center’s New Ringlok - High Quality Closure for Paint and Coating Containers
28 April 2004
As an innovator of sample shipping packages and systems, we first introduced Ringlok® in 1989 to help move samples by air and it subsequently became an industry standard. Now, with the changing times, we are utilizing new state-of-the-art production techniques to produce an upgraded version of the Ringlok®, which still successfully allows most paint cans to meet or exceed the 95 kPa pressure differential testing requirement for shipping liquids by air under IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and National and Carrier requirements.
- The "new" Ringloks® have been third-party-tested with ICC’s cans and tested with many others, including Brockway, US Can, Central Can, Universal Can, supporting in excess of 100 kPa
- Testing on our paint can packaging kits includes ISTA specifications as required by UPS, FedEx and similar carriers
- The new Ringloks® are available without a removal tab for user convenience and easier insertion into the package
- All kits are available with or without cans (if your can has been suitably pressure tested with the new Ringlok® and meets the equivalent design standards under 49 CFR 178.601 Variation 1, then you may use your cans in our packaging (a confirmation of equivalency testing may be required)
- The new Ringloks® are made of a slightly firmer plastic than previously, providing for less distortion (curling) of the ring and easier automated hand-closure equivalent or manual application
- Paint can kits with new Ringloks® can be used to ship various small inner containers cushioned inside the can. The can plus Ringlok® provides a pressure-compliant intermediate container and we can supply various absorbent and cushioning options
- Paint can shippers are also available in tall, quart and pint sizes (quarts and pints can use Armlock™ or clips)
