FRANCIS WARD is a specialist manufacturer of reusable intermediate bulk containers and plastic drums. We supply reusable UN-approved Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) and drums for the transportation and storage of hazardous goods for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. We also manufacture IBCs for non-hazardous applications, typically for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical markets including handling of powders, granules and other solids.

Our strong, durable IBCs and drums can be reused for hazardous liquids with confidence. This also makes sound financial sense by reducing a company's packaging waste obligation, as the container is only obligated on first trip. Use of reusable containers enhances a company's environmental credentials and may assist in maintaining or achieving ISO 14001 EMS accreditation. Our containers are manufactured in Bradford under our ISO 9000 (2000) accreditation.

MULTI-TRIP INTERMEDIATE BULK CONTAINERS (IBCs)

FRANCIS WARD is the largest manufacturer of multi-trip Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) in the UK. Through listening to customer demands, we have created the widest range of reusable IBCs available in Europe. There are currently 21 standard different IBC's types, most of which are compliant to UN Group II.

FRANCIS WARD's range of IBCs covers capacities from 500l to 2,500l and used to be manufactured under the Bison IBC Systems brand. We manufacture mild steel, stainless steel, all-plastic IBCs, and steel frames with plastic liners. Our world–leading pressure-discharge IBC can be supplied with a polyethylene roto-lining, or with a hypalon rubber lining for chemicals that may attack polyethylene such as sodium hypochlorite or hydrofluoric acid. All our IBCs are available with a range of top fittings and bottom outlets with quality parts used throughout.

PRODUCT QUALITY - CHEMICAL RESISTANT PAINTS

Metal parts are fabricated in our own workshops giving us complete control of the process and allowing us to make heavy-duty long-lasting metal intermediate bulk containers and frames. Our metal parts can be painted with chemical resistant paints in our own paint shop or galvanised to improve the chemical resistance.

FRANCIS WARD uses the rotational moulding process for all plastic parts. This produces containers that are seamless, smooth and virtually stress free, giving excellent chemical resistance for a wide range of inorganic chemicals. The process also produces thick-walled containers that give many years of resistance to the day-to-day wear and tear of storage yards.

PLASTIC DRUMS

FRANCIS WARD's rotationally moulded reusable plastic drums range from 20l to 45l. Our drum brands include the double-called 'Warboy', square 'Warlord' and round 'Wardrum' which have become industry standards across the UK.

INTERMEDIATE BULK CONTAINER SERVICING AND TESTING

FRANCIS WARD offers customers additional support through re-testing UN approved IBCs to ensure they are compliant with regulations. This includes offering on-site two and a half year and five year IBC UN testing. Our service options include a full refurbishment of IBCs at five years including the re-lining of pressure-discharge and re-bottling of composite Intermediate Bulk Containers.

As a manufacturer we can ensure that containers are tested and repaired in accordance with our original specifications, giving user peace of mind when moving hazardous liquids.

RENTAL AND LEASE PURCHASING

FRANCIS WARD has recently launched the option of lease purchasing and rental of its containers. Customers who require re-usable rotational moulded intermediate bulk containers, but who prefer not to commit to a long-term acquisition, may rent so reducing capital costs. There are also significant tax advantages in leasing rather than purchasing.
