Dyadic International - Enzymes for Industrial Applications: Animal Feed, Textiles, Food and Bioethanol

Using its integrated technology platform, Dyadic develops biological products such as proteins, enzymes, polypeptides and small molecules for applications in large segments of the agricultural, industrial and chemical industries. These applications include enhancing animal feed nutritional value, improving textile and garment quality, increasing baking and brewing efficiencies and efficiently converting starches and cellulosic wastes into sugar during the production of fuel ethanol.

ENZYMES FOR ANIMAL FEED APPLICATIONS - XYLANASE, BETA-GLUCANASE AND CELLULASE PRODUCTS

Dyadic International's enzymes for animal feed include hemi-cellulase complexes which improve the digestion and nutritional value of various feed diets. Substantial amounts of barley, wheat, rye and sunflower can only be used in broiler diets if they are supplemented with enzymes. The addition of enzymes ensure the maximum utilization of nutrients trapped inside the plant cells, while also reducing the viscosity created by non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) in the bird's digestive tract.

For ruminants, alteration in milk fat content and improvement in the productivity of beef cattle has been demonstrated by adding the enzymes beta-glucanase and xylanase to animal feed. Additionally, by including these enzymes to the total mixed feed ration or to corn silage or alfalfa hay, improved animal health has been demonstrated - especially in young animals. Enzyme complexes for animal feed applications are available in powder and liquid form.

ENZYMES FOR TEXTILE APPLICATIONS - ACID CELLULASES, NEUTRAL CELLULASES AND HYBRID CELLULASES

The introduction of cellulases for stonewashing has allowed the cycle time to be cut in half when used in conjunction with pumice stones, as recommended by Dyadic. Additionally, stonewashing with cellulase is superior to washing with pumice alone because it increases garment softness and results in higher levels of fabric abrasion. Cellulases are also used in biofinishing for the removal of surface hairs from garments for increased comfort and fashion. To meet the industry's demand for stonewashing, Dyadic is developing additional varieties of enzymes to improve upon existing finishing processes. Dyadic enzymes for textile applications are available in powder and liquid form.

ENZYMES FOR FOOD APPLICATIONS - STARCH PROCESSING HEMI-CELLULASES

Enzymes are used by the baking, confectionery, and beverage industries to process starch and produce dextrose, fructose, and special syrups. The brewing industry relies on enzymes to create low-malt and malt-free brewing environments, to induce faster maturation of beer, to remove carbohydrates for light beer, and to induce chill proofing. Dyadic enzymes for food processing are available in powder and liquid form.

ENZYMES FOR BIOENERGY APPLICATIONS - CELLULASES AND HEMICELLULASES

Dyadic provides enzymes for the saccharification of agricultural (corn stover, wheat straw, bagasse) and industrial wastes (pulp and papermill sludge) into fermentable sugars. These cellulases and hemicellulases are used to break down plant cell walls and hydrolyze cellulose and hemicelluose into simple sugars such as glucose and xylose, which can then be fermented into fuel ethanol.
