Compact, Fully Enclosed Repeater/Power Conditioner Combination -- Economically extends AS-Interface networks in hazardous and general-purpose areas.
StoneL's new AS-Interface repeater/ power conditioner combination makes it possible to extend hazardous areas networks by an additional 100 meters using a remotely located power supply, which does not add to the length of the network (up to two repeater/conditioners may be added per network, extending it up to 300 meters). This results in maximized network coverage with minimized networking hardware, wiring and installation costs.
The AS-Interface repeater/conditioner combo is packaged in StoneL's ultra-compact Junction Module (JM) enclosure. This combination package fits in the palm of a hand and costs under $500 (the same as a less versatile and more cumbersome general purpose conditioner).
Separating the power supply from the conditioner makes it possible to locate the power supply outside the hazardous area. This eliminates the need either to run the network outside the hazardous area to meet up with the power supply, or to install a bulky and expensive explosion-proof cabinet to house an integrated power supply and conditioner in the hazardous area.
In addition to space and equipment savings, the AS-Interface repeater/conditioner reduces installation costs because the JM is designed for fast, easy wiring. The combination is also well suited for general-purpose use in heavy washdown areas.
