IDCON CEO Meets with Capitol Hill OfficialsIDCON
IDCON founder and CEO Christer Idhammar recently paid a visit to Capitol Hill in Washington DC to lobby for workforce development alongside the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP).
The group met with office representatives of six senator's offices.
Idhammar said: "Much of the discussions focused on better US community colleges and cooperation with industry, changing the attitudes that you must have a college degree to be successful, increasing the status of technical colleges and making senators aware of the existing and future dramatic shortage of skilled crafts people in the reliability and maintenance professions."
SMRP promotes workforce development in the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession and is an advocate for a renewed focus on training and skill development.
This is the second year IDCON has participated in this important mission.
Idhammar added: "In our work with industry, we are seeing the impact of an inadequately skilled workforce is having on reliability and maintenance."
